The HUBER Screenings Wash Press WAP® SL operates in a batch mode. Screenings either drop into the wash press trough directly from a screen or conveyor, or they are flushed into the trough through a launder channel.

After a batch of screenings has been fed, the trough is filled up with wash water and agitated for an adjustable period by means of an impeller. The fecal matter is loosened and removed from the screenings by high turbulence and shear.

After the washing cycle has been finished, an automatic valve opens and the wash water drains through perforations in the trough. The discharge of the washed screenings along with the compaction and dewatering of the screenings takes place in the following step in a single operation.

The screw pushes the screenings through the pressure zone where they are compressed, dewatered and compacted before they are finally discharged through the discharge pipe into a dumpster or bagger.

Feeding through a HUBER Launder Channel HLC

The screenings drop from the screen or conveyor into the HUBER Launder Channel HLC. Screened wastewater or process water flushes the screenings through the launder channel into the trough of the HUBER Screenings Wash Press WAP® SL. The flush water also serves as wash water in the trough.

The HUBER Launder Channel HLC Feed System for Screenings Wash Presses

The HUBER Launder Channel operates discontinuously in a batch mode or continuously. The screenings to be treated drop into the launder channel from one or several screens. Wastewater or service water is used to flush the screenings into the wash press. The flushing water serves also as wash water for screenings washing. Free transport water is returned to the system through a perforated plate.

HUBER Launder Channel HLC systems can be adjusted to suit customer-specific requirements. To ensure maximum operating reliability the launder channel control system can be designed to use redundant wash press systems and operate the individual units as needed via according valve control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Due to the highly carbonaceous composition of the loaded wash water, the C/N ratio of the entire treatment plant influent is positively influenced. Depending on the screen aperture size and the inlet situation of the sewage treatment plant, the C/N ratio can be improved by up to 6 %, and thus the denitrification performance in the case of unfavourable nutrient ratios in the sewage treatment plant.

After washing, the screenings are compacted so that the water content in the washed screenings is significantly reduced. As a result of washing out the faecal matter, a significant improvement in screenings dewatering is observed in many cases.
