The market for membrane bioreactors (MBRs) is growing faster and faster due to more stringent wastewater treatment laws, rapid population growth and shortages in water supply. Especially in urban areas membrane bioreactors that provide the possibility of water reuse are therefore gaining in importance.
The rotating membrane filtration plant VRM® manufactured by the mechanical engineering company Huber SE in Berching (Germany) has successfully been applied in municipal and industrial MBR processes for many years.
In close cooperation with the membrane and module manufacturer MICRODYN-NADIR in Wiesbaden the HUBER VRM® has substantially been redesigned with the aim to combine the many advantages of the rotating membrane system with the special benefits of the BIO-CEL® module technology which has successfully proven its efficiency in a great number of projects.
The decisive advantages are extremely high throughputs (up to 300m³/h) and especially very energy-efficient yet highly effective membrane cleaning (< 150l/m²h scouring air). Moreover, BIO-CEL® modules excel for their long life and are inexpensive to clean. As ultrafiltration membranes they guarantee excellent effluent quality.
As a result, customers benefit not only from their reliability and low maintenance requirements, they profit particularly from very low specific investment costs as well as low operating and energy costs.
Just in time for IFAT 2016 HUBER will present to the public the new VRM® membrane filtration plant in full size. With a diameter of 4.5 m, an overall length of 7 m and a membrane surface of 9,220 m² the VRM® plant will be one of the highlights on the HUBER stand this year.
