Sludge disposal and utilisation has become a much discussed issue
in Germany and internationally. More and more people realise that sludge
is a valuable resource and not only contaminated waste they need to
dispose of as cheap as possible. HUBER SE recognised this already some
time ago and has made the idea reality: The HUBER sludge2energy plant
installed on WWTP Straubing achieves energy self-sufficient sludge
drying and sludge incineration. In addition, a micro gas turbine
produces energy on site. Due to mono-incineration the recovery of
phosphorus from the ash is possible. In cooperation with WTE in
Essen, a leading European private service provider in the fields of
water, technology and energy, we have used our experience to develop the
sludge2energy system as a turnkey solution for sewage sludge
utilisation. Our cooperation with WTE will now lead to the foundation of
a joint enterprise: Based in Berching, the sludge2energy GmbH to be founded will offer our customers complete solutions for sewage sludge utilisation.
HUBER and WTE plan to found new sludge2energy GmbH
On the basis of the very positive experience we have made with the
sewage sludge utilisation in Straubing we have developed the
sludge2energy system as a turnkey solution for sewage sludge utilisation
in cooperation with WTE in Essen. The comprehensive expertise of both
companies has been used to develop a cost-effective and reliable modular
system for any customer requirements. More...
Bavarian State Minister Marcel Huber attends official opening of sludge2energy plant in Straubing

Thermal spa in Switzerland uses HUBER technology for heat recovery
An impressive 3.9 million litres of 51 °C hot thermal water a day
are streaming into the pools of Burgerbad spa in Switzerland. Such
enormous volumes of water with a very high temperature are ideal for the
recovery of heat from wastewater. No wonder the spa operators bought a
HUBER RoWin Heat Exchanger to recover the energy that would be lost
otherwise. More...
Grit washers: separate the wheat from the chaff
When we launched our COANDA Grit Washer in 1994 and started its
success story it was not long before competitors came up with their own
grit washers. But no other grit washer would even come close to being
comparable with our COANDA Grit Washer in terms of function and
efficiency. What should a good grit washer be able to do? More...
HUBER RoDisc® Rotary Mesh Screen as tertiary filter stage
Wastewater treatment plants with insufficient effluent quality can
be upgraded by a tertiary filter stage: Our RoDisc® micro screen
prevents concentration of suspended material and thus significantly
improves effluent quality. More...
Innovative research project to save fresh water in breweries
Up to 240 million m˛ of the fresh water consumed for beer brewing
worldwide could be saved. About one third of the fresh water could be
replaced with service water in production areas where no drinking water
quality is required. HUBER has developed an innovative process chain in
cooperation with Bavarian project partners under a joint research
project. More...
