Sewage Sludge Drying with WP

The time and space requirements for sewage sludge drying strongly depend on the available heating energy.

Solar drying uses free solar energy. However, for seasonal or climate reasons, this source of energy is sometimes insufficiently available.

To reduce space requirements in such cases and/or ensure all-year-round drying, it is reasonable to use an additional regenerative heat source.

Process

A regenerative heat source can be the heat contained within wastewater. The temperature level of wastewater heat is rather moderate, but the heat is permanently available on each sewage treatment plant. We use a heat pump to raise the temperature up to a level that enables the reliable and efficient use of this thermal energy for low-temperature sludge drying.

The heat pump generates 4 to 6 kWh useful heat.
